CCS members have a diverse range of skills, experience, interests, and backgrounds. One common trait among many of our members is volunteerism. Between our Board of Directors; members on CCS standing committees and working groups; faculty for CPD webinars, Trainee Review Programs, and bootcamps; and other opportunities to get involved, hundreds of members take time out of their very busy schedules to volunteer with the CCS!
April 14 to 20 is National Volunteer Week and on behalf of the entire team at the CCS, we offer a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated group of volunteers who offer up what little free time they have to contribute to the growth of our society and its members.
If you’re looking for ways to become more involved, the following calls for volunteers are currently open:
- CCS Board of Directors
- Open roles include Vice President (President-Elect) and Board Members for the Atlantic, Quebec, and Ontario regions. Please apply by May 6 (extended from April 29).
- CCS Standing Committees
- Open roles include spots on the Guidelines, Membership Advocacy, and EDI committees, along with the SPC Annual Meeting Chair for 2025. Please apply by April 29.
If you need more convincing, read (or re-read!) Michelle Graham’s December 2023 and April 2024 President’s Pages from the CJC. She passionately outlines ways and reasons to get involved with the CCS. Or, if you’re just looking for a bit of guidance about where your skills could be put to use, reach out to membership@ccs.ca and we’ll be happy to help.
Once again, thank you to our tireless volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you. Your gifts of time, skill, empathy, and creativity are vital to the inclusivity, strength, and wellbeing of our cardiovascular community.
