For more information about CCS Membership, visit the CCS website:&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/ccs.ca\/en\/membership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/ccs.ca\/en\/membership<\/a>.<br><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">*You must be a CCS member to accept funding, but you can apply without being a member!<\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada at the time funding is received.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The principal investigator must have completed an MD degree (or equivalent) and have obtained a fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians &amp; Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent from a foreign country) or from the Canadian College of Family Physicians; or have completed a PharmD; or have completed a PhD (post-doc).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must provide a letter of acceptance to a faculty or clinical position at a Canadian institution.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants must demonstrate support by the university or institution at which the applicant will conduct the proposed research program.&nbsp; Requirement for a statement completed by the Dean and Department Head (or institutional equivalents) demonstrating commitment of the university or institution to provide the applicant appropriate academic rank, time allocated to the proposed research program, and to provide adequate space and facilities for the investigator\u2019s research, as well as a commitment to developing the applicant\u2019s research, technical and professional skills and networks over the training period by providing career planning, skills development and networking opportunities to prepare the trainee for an impactful career.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applicants can be principal investigators on only one application.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Award funds are solely intended for research performed in Canada.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This salary award is intended for a Fellow to perform original research that is either clinical or translational with expected impact on patient care. Proposal should not request supplemental funding for a project that has extramural funding.\n<ul>\n<li>If the submission refers to a multicenter clinical trial, the applicant must indicate their specific role in the research study.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the application is for a sub-study of an ongoing project or trial, the applicant must specify their role and explain how the sub-study is distinct from the main study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If funded, proposed research must be completed within 12 months (with consideration for projects up to 24 months) from the start of funding.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research status reports will be required on October 1st of every year that the project is running.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Eligible Areas of Research<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible research activities must involve clinical outcomes research or clinical research in an area related to ATTR-CM, which may include the study of early identification, evaluation, diagnosis, prognosis and management; use of screening tools and their impact on improvement of patient health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Ineligible Areas of Research<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Head-to-head studies&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Any indications outside of TTR amyloidosis&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pediatric investigations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>End stage disease&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dose response studies&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tafamidis&nbsp;animal studies&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">The Peer Review Process<\/span><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All applications will be pre-screened for eligibility. Applications that are late, incomplete and\/or do not meet the basic eligibility criteria will not be considered for review. Peer review of all eligible applications will be conducted by a scientific review committee comprised of CCS members.
