Did you know the World Health Organization considers climate change the \u201csingle biggest health threat facing humanity?\u201d1<\/a><\/sup> In fact, it is affecting cardiovascular health globally due to air pollution and extreme heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On this Earth Day, the CCS is pleased to highlight our Climate Change Working Group, who are dedicated to: <\/p>\n\n\n\n The CCS has advocated to the federal government to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, eliminate public financing to oil and gas companies, and help workers and communities succeed in a low-carbon economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite the recent release of Canada\u2019s Emissions Reduction Plan<\/a>, climate experts recognize \u201cwe are still not on track to limit global heating to safe levels (1.5 C) this century\u201d.2<\/a><\/sup> Plus, the federal government has yet to fulfil its promise to phase out public financing for oil and gas companies despite substantial investments in clean air in Budget 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stay tuned for more climate change updates!<\/p>\n\n\n\nOur work to date<\/mark><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
