When thinking about Dr. Virani, passion is the word that comes to mind. He first became involved with the CCS as a cardiology trainee, inspired by mentors who highlighted the vital role that the CCS offers in early career development. Several years of involvement on countless CCS committees and working groups later, Dr. Virani remains dedicated to advancing cardiovascular care through health system redesign and quality improvement initiatives to improve access and equity for all Canadians.
As a strong advocate for evidence-based medicine and emerging technologies such as AI, Dr. Virani believes these tools are pivotal in delivering high-quality, personalized cardiovascular care.
Volunteering with the CCS remains a significant part of Dr. Virani’s work. He is driven by a desire to give back to the profession and ensure a more inclusive and accessible community. He encourages members to jump at the chance to volunteer with the CCS, describing it as a unique opportunity to shape the future of cardiovascular care in Canada, mentor others, make meaningful connections, and participate in initiatives with real impact on patient outcomes and research.
When he’s not busy shaping the future of cardiovascular care, Dr. Virani finds inspiration in the laughter of his family, the connections he builds through mentorship, and his deep commitment to empowering the next generation of medical leaders.
