Dr. Laurie-Anne Boivin-Proulx, MD, MSc
Trainee Representative, CCS Board of Directors
Interventional Cardiology Fellow,
University of Ottawa Heart Institute

Dr. Boivin-Proulx’s journey with the CCS began as a PGY1 in Internal Medicine when she joined the Trainee Program Planning Committee. Driven to shape training experiences and foster collaboration among cardiovascular trainees across Canada, she continues to dedicate her time and expertise to advancing a more inclusive and diverse cardiovascular community.

As one of the few women in Canadian interventional cardiology, Dr. Boivin-Proulx has emerged as a leading voice in addressing underserved areas of cardiac care. Her work focuses on ischemia with no obstructive coronary arteries (INOCA), a condition that predominantly affects women yet often goes unrecognized. Through her development of an innovative invasive physiology program and specialized clinic, she is revolutionizing how these conditions are diagnosed and treated, marking a significant step forward in gender-equitable cardiac care.

Mentorship has played a pivotal role in Dr. Boivin-Proulx’s career, guiding her clinical and research journey. Drawing from her own experience, she actively encourages trainees to engage with the CCS, viewing it as an invaluable platform for professional development, meaningful connections, and impactful advocacy work.

Outside of the office, Dr. Boivin-Proulx enjoys running and cycling. She believes that engaging in sports helps her develop discipline and resilience; qualities that translate to her demanding professional life as a cardiovascular trainee.
