Canadian Alliance of Cardiovascular Centres Working Groups

The CACC convenes Working Groups to leverage, spread, and scale knowledge between cardiovascular centres and advance promising innovations.
Here are the first two Working Groups:
Patient Care Models and Prevention
- Chair: Dr. Abhinav Sharma

Committee Members:
- Sarah Beingessner, Waterloo Region Health Network
- Bonnie Bowes, Ottawa Heart Institute
- Dr. Pedro Marques, McGill University
Goal: Improve and scale innovative patient care models and prevention strategies across Canada
Key Activities:
- The group is focusing on cardio metabolic clinics and other promising models for patient care and prevention. The group is looking to make connections with other centres at varying stages of developing similar clinics.
- A series of white papers will be developed to document best practices in this and other areas.
Infrastructure, Resources, and Governance
Co-Chairs:
- Liz Lalingo, Southlake Regional Health Centre

- Dr. Anita Soni, St. Boniface Hospital

Committee Members:
- Christine Johnson, Trillium Health Partners
- Dr. Howard Leong-Poi, St. Michael’s Hospital
- Dr. Reid Love, St Boniface Hospital
- Erika McPhee, Ottawa Heart Institute
- Vikas Kuriachan, University of Calgary
Goal: Strengthen infrastructure, optimize resources, and enhance governance models
Key activities:
- The group is focused on advocating on behalf of all cardiac programs. First, the group plans to gain a better understanding of the different needs, resources and structures of cardiac programs across the country and to create a community of practice with resources that all centres can access and allow for connections with each other. The group is also looking to build on the national inventory completed in 2024 by increasing of the resources available in each centre to eventually help programs expand.
