About the Canadian Alliance of Cardiovascular Centres

Given the current political climate, it is more important than ever for cardiac centres across the country to unite. In times like these, strong collaboration among cardiovascular centres is essential to drive innovation and improve patient care.

Since its start in 2023, the Canadian Alliance of Cardiovascular Centres (CACC) has brought a heart centres together from across Canada to share ideas and help the spread of innovative practices.

We are now at the stage where the value and full potential of the Alliance is tangible. We have made significant progress by coming together to share knowledge that will help shape the future of cardiovascular care across Canada.

  • Held quarterly Alliance meetings where we have shared more than a dozen innovative and scalable projects.
  • Conducted the first Baseline National Cardiovascular Centre Resource Inventory.
  • Published two articles in the Canadian Journal of Cardiology’s Society Pages.
  • Hosted annual in-person workshops as part of the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC) with strong attendance from across the country.
  • Launched two Working Groups:
    • Patient Care Models and Prevention chaired by Dr. Abhinav Sharma, from McGill University, with a focus on cardiovascular-kidney metabolic syndrome.
    • Infrastructure, Resources and Governance co-chaired by Dr. Anita Soni from St. Boniface Hospital and Liz Lalingo from Southlake Health. This group is focused on advocating on behalf of all cardiac programs.
